W.A. Klinger ensured banking operations continued throughout construction
When First National Bank outgrew their old facility, they turned to W.A. Klinger to construct an efficient, modern bank complex. The new building was built on the site of the existing building, so W.A. Klinger renovated space in an adjacent structure for a temporary home for the bank during construction.
The new facility is a 78,000 square foot, four-story structure. The entry glass was fabricated by Pilkington Glass Company of London, England, and represents the first use of this system in Sioux City.
The building houses the bank plus two upper floors of rental space.
The essence of the stately limestone old bank was retained in a colonnade monument erected on the southwest corner of the site.
First National Bank was later acquired by Firstar Bank.
